Obituary for Lynda Ruth "Lynn" Asham (Cline)
Lynda "Lynn" Ruth Asham (b. November 24, 1946) of Glenboro, Manitoba passed away peacefully at the Glenboro Health Centre on Sunday May 15, 2016 with family by her side.
Lynn is survived by her husband Arnie, her daughter Carman Asham (Nathen Shaw) of Minot, ND, son Corey Asham of Glenboro, granddaughter Kaya Shaw, brothers Wayne Cline, Terry (Nancy) Cline, Rick (Heather) Cline, brother-in-law Jim (Marlene) Asham and sister-in-law Carol (Joe) Ganter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Earl & Mary (nee Ruth) Cline and sister-in-law Margaret Cline and foster daughter Elaine.
Lynn lived in Glenboro for the majority of her life, spending some of her time living in Brandon after getting married as well as in multiple remote communities in Northern Manitoba for brief periods.
She was a caring foster parent to many children, keeping in touch with some long after they moved on and found forever homes. Holding a particularly special place in her heart were sisters Elaine and Germaine and their children Kara, Sage and Steven.
Lynn served the community and surrounding area in many ways; from her work as Activities Director at the Personal Care Home to her more current duties with Senior Independent Services. She could usually be found out and about putting many miles on the Handi-van.
Lynn was uncomfortable with attention or accolades and she was opinionated and stubborn, but we wouldn’t have had her any other way. She always had a smile and friendly wave for everyone and she always put others ahead of herself. She was incredibly talented and creative, making coveted leather slippers and meaningful keepsake teddy bears among many other things. She was a big Elvis fan, loved reading, nature and animals and never turned away a stray in need of a home. Lynn was a great friend, and an amazing mother and grandmother who left us too soon. She will be deeply missed by many.
Respecting Lynn's wishes, cremation has taken place and there was no formal service. A private family memorial was held in the Glenboro Cemetery on May 22, 2016. Friends that so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Lynn's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st, Brandon Manitoba, R7A 2WB.
