Peacefully with his family by his side, Allan Edward "Friday" Frederickson of Glenboro, MB passed away at the Glenboro Health Centre on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Friday leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 70 years Bernice (nee Johnson), four children Sharon (Walter) Hilhorst of Killarney, Marilyn (Stan) Ehnes of Vernon, B.C., Craig (Donna) Frederickson of Winnipeg, Thoralee Brown of Glenboro, eight grandchildren Travis (Bev), Paul (Leanne), Cory (Erica), Jesse, Noelle (Stephen), Colin, Kaleigh and Shaelyn and by twelve great grandchildren Breanne, Cejay, Ethan, Ella, Ben, Drew, Callie, Dylan, Ethan, Ryann, Haiden and Maddox. He is also survived by his sister Elvina Jamieson of Glenboro, sister-in-law Alice Wallace of Cold Lake, AB and brother-in-law Wayne Johnson of Cold Lake, AB. Friday was predeceased by his parents Fred and Thora (nee Sigurdson) Frederickson, brother Turner Frederickson, sister Verna Wilton and by brothers-in-law Howard Wilton and Bill Jamieson and brother and sister-in-law Harry and Velma Johnson . A celebration of Friday's life was held on Tuesday, June 17th at the Willmor Chapel presided over by Sharon Hamilton. Eulogy was given by his youngest daughter Thoralee followed by a slide show commemorating his life. Vera Bjornson sang "What A Wonderful World". Interment took place prior to the service with his son Craig as urn bearer. Grandchildren and great grandchildren each placed a carnation and a gold ball on Afi's grave. Friday was born in Glenboro on December 5, 1922. He lived his entire life in Glenboro and went on to marry his childhood sweetheart Bernice Johnson on November 20, 1943. He started working in his Dad's general store and eventually became a partner in the business. Upon the closing of Frederickson's Store, Friday went to work at Glenboro Hospital in the maintenance department where he continued to work until his retirement. Friday's greatest passion was golfing with friends and family. Roy Wallis, Al Greer, Jack Gowanlock and Friday were a common foursome and took in many golf tournaments together. Friday was made an honorary member of the Glenboro Golf Club and continued to golf until the age of 90. He also enjoyed many years of curling. He was loved and respected by many and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
