Passed away at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, Brandon MB, on Monday January 12, 2015 at the age of 87 years, Antoine Achiel Jules "Tony" Schamp, formerly of Cypress River MB. Tony was born on July 31, 1927 & raised on a farm near Cypress River MB to Jan & Augusta (Malfait) Schamp who came to Manitoba from Belgium to homestead. Tony traveled to different parts of Canada & overseas. He farmed most of his life, set up farm equipment for a local business & delivered it. He loved music and games of all kinds, played the mouth organ, Belgium Bowled & played Bien (a card game). He loved the outdoors, long walks, cut trees for lumber and went hunting & fishing. Tony had eight siblings & was predeceased by a brother & sister in infancy, his parents Jan & Augusta, brother Gracien & wife Mildred, sister Annie & husband Gus Marginet, brother-in-laws Omer Rigaux and Armand Desrosiers. Tony leaves to mourn his passing his brothers Roman of Glenboro, Roger of Brandon, sisters Marie Jose Rigaux of Cypress River, Mary Jane Desrosiers of Glenboro, 13 nieces & nephews & spouses, numerous great & great-great nieces & nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held in the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, Holland MB, on Friday January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Father John McKenzie as Celebrant. Prayers will take place at 1:30 pm prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the St. John Berchmans Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Cypress River Memorial Hall.
