Obituary

Beatrice Evelyn Catt passed away Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Black Diamond AB. She was born April 21st, 1919, in Pelly, Saskatchewan. She was the second oldest of 5 children and is survived by her sister Mildred McAuley of Altona. Bea married George Catt on November 27, 1948 & they lived on the family farm in the Ladysmith District until moving into Treherne in 1985. Bea worked hard all her life and always put her family and friends ahead of herself. She wanted her family to be their best at whatever they chose to do. She would pitch in right away when she saw someone in need of assistance and knew just what to do - always thinking of the other person not herself. Retiring to Treherne enabled her to participate in many activities and visits with friends. She became involved in bowling for several years, loved playing cards and joined many activities at the seniors' centre. She "scooted" around town with her scooter for a number of years, showing her independence. She loved her three grandchildren and they thought she was very special. Her three step-grandchildren were immediately part of the family and on her Christmas gift list. She enjoyed traveling and made many bus trips to Calgary and Vancouver as well as Ontario while in her 80's and was never afraid to go alone. She even did a trip to Cuba with her sister. Bea never turned down an offer of a chance to get out for a shopping trip or a car ride. In 2012, Bea moved to a seniors' lodge in Black Diamond, Alberta, to be closer to two of her daughters. It was a big adjustment at age 93, but she did it and made some new friends. She celebrated her 99th birthday last April and enjoyed every minute of it. She is survived by her five children, Mervin, Marjorie (Bill), Marilyn (Paul), Linda (Lyn), Ronald (Linda); three grandchildren Christine (Les), Cole and Jordan plus three step-grandchildren, Heather, Cynthia and Nick and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bea's life will be held at the Treherne Friendship Centre on Saturday May 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. Memorial donations can be made in Bea's memory to a charity of choice.
