It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa Darwin on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 80.
Darwin leaves to mourn his passing daughter Krista (Darin), son Regan, grandson Brady (Paige), granddaughter Tara Lee (Dylan) and great grandsons Stetson and Ky, special friend Brenda Tosh, sister-in-law Lenore (Bruce) Berry, brother-in-law Ernie Born, sister-in-law Debbie Nordal, and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Diana, parents Gordon and Elinor Richmond, in-laws Jon and Dorothy Nordal, sister-in-law Carole Born, brothers-in-law Leonard and Barry Nordal and niece Vanessa Nordal
Darwin was born November 3,1945 and grew up on the family farm at Cypress River. After high school he went to U of M where he completed his Diploma in Agriculture
In 1968 he married Diana Nordal and they began their farming life together. They operated a grain farm and ran an anhydrous ammonia business - Crescent Soil Service.
Darwin and Diana retired off the farm and built a house in Cypress River and began their retired life. To fill in some of his spare time, Darwin started hauling campers from Indiana, USA to Canada. He saw lots of country and loved every minute of it.
Darwin LOVED to travel. Many family trips were taken over the years and in retirement he and Diana travelled all over the world and then tried a cruise and became hooked. He went on many cruises to many different destinations
Sadly Diana passed away in 2022, but his passion for travel remained and he went on a couple of solo cruises. In 2024 he found a travelling partner /friend Brenda and they embarked on many cruises and trips together as well.
When he returned from his trips he always had lots of stories to tell us and always brought unique souvenirs home for his great grandsons.
Besides travel, Darwin loved Golf! He took part in men's night in Glenboro, played courses all over Manitoba and loved to travel with his golf buddies to Florida once a year for their 2 week golf trips! On July 6th Darwin played his last game of golf with the guys in Kenosee, SK. We are told he even had 2 birdies!
Darwin will be missed for his teasing and quick wit as well as his ability to always lend a hand to anyone in need.
A Celebration of Darwin's life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Cypress River Memorial Hall with Sharon Hamilton officiating. Reception to follow in the Cypress River Community Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Memorial donations can be made in Darwin's memory to the Cypress River & Area Foundation, Box 86, Cypress River, MB R0K 0P0.
"Dad - you have finished your final round
- rest easy and may the sun always shine on your fairway"!
