Evelyn Gaetz, born on her family farm Sept. 19, 1922 near Overstoneville Manitoba, youngest of eight sisters, passed away peacefully at Carman Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Phil in 1989. She is survived by her sister Edythe, sons Collin and his wife Jo Ann, and Gerry and his wife Tania. She is grandmother to Lara, Kristy, Matthew and Graeme. Evelyn and Phil farmed and then managed the golf course at Glenboro Manitoba until moving to Carman Manitoba in 1979. Evelyn was an active member of the United Church and an avid volunteer and supporter of community based organizations and numerous charities. Her acts of kindness, generous spirit and unwavering faith have been an inspiration and guide to her family and friends. She left this life on her own terms, with her family by her side. Mom, we miss you. A Celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Carman United Church with Karen Tjaden officiating. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman MB. Friends that so wish, memorial donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
