Fred Andries of Swan Lake, MB passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Baldur Personal Care Home at the age of 92 years. Fred is survived by his sister-in-law Sheila Packet and will be missed by his many nieces & nephews. Fred was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Packet) in 1996, his parents Victor & Delphine (nee Maes) Andries, sister Germaine (Arsene) Lombaert, sister-in-law Liz (Julien) DeCap and brothers-in-law Gilbert, Marcel and Michel Packet. Fred was born February 20, 1922 in the Kinsley District, MB, and married Mary Packet in 1950. Fred did various jobs around the district until he found his calling as an auctioneer, which he continued with until 2006, when he retired after 50+ years. Fred was a Chartered Member of the Swan Lake Lions Club, a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, and served on the Swan Lake Hospital Board for many years. In 2011, Fred moved to Baldur Personal Care Home, where he enjoyed many outing with fellow residents, and was still able to do some auctioneering at resident`s family picnics. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Swan Lake, MB. Eulogy will take place at 9:45 a.m. prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the St. Martin of Tours Parish Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Fred`s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.
