Celebration of Life ~ Gilbert Roger Joseph Pittet
Gilbert Roger Joseph Pittet, of Treherne, MB, passed away, surrounded by family, at the Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB on Monday, October 20, 2025 at the age of 73 years.
Born and raised in southern Manitoba, Gilbert was known by many in the community. As a young man, Gilbert was passionate about sports and spent many years playing hockey for the Holland Rockets and baseball for the Holland A's.
In 1989, Gilbert purchased Lucky Dollar Foods in Treherne and later renamed it Pittets Food Store. From then on he could be found behind the meat counter and always said a quick hello to anyone that came in to shop.
Gilbert leaves to mourn his passing children Morgan (Farhan) Ahmed of Forrest, MB, Barak (Araba) Pittet of Halifax, NS and Zoe (Japheth) Regalado of Carberry, MB, grandchildren Zaara, Suri, Lillian, Otis, Evelyn, Ash and Neve, brothers Robert (Lorna) of Holland, MB and Romeo (Merle) of Redvers, SK, sisters Annette (Glenn) Young of Cypress River, MB, Leona (John) McAllister of St. Louis, MO and Jacqueline Pittet of Holland, MB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Alice (nee Danis) Pittet.
Gilbert will be remembered for being a quiet, kind and funny man, always willing to lend a hand when needed. He was loved fiercely by his family and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Gilbert's Life will be held at the Holland Community Hall, Holland, MB, on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 am with Sandra Rex officiating. Private family interment will follow in St. John Berchmans Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will take place in the Holland Community Hall. The service will be livestreamed, and the link will be shared here when it becomes available.
