Gladys Ellen Rathwell (nee Purkess), formerly of the Ladysmith MB area, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 10, 2017 at the age of 85 years after a lengthy illness at the Tiger Hills Manor, Treherne MB. Gladys leaves to mourn her passing her three children Myrna Rathwell of McDonald MB, Keith (Lorna) Rathwell of Holland, Marina Rathwell of Holland, grandchildren Kodi (Teri), Keena & Logan, great grandchildren Mason & Maddyk & by sister-in-law Helen Turner of Holland. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Norman (1999), grandson Daron (1995), parents Bill & Sarah Purkess, sister Elaine (Bill) Rathwell, brother William (Merle) Purkess & brother-in-law Bob Turner. A Celebration of Glady's life will be held on Saturday August 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Jamieson Holland Chapel, Holland MB, with Heather Grobb officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Holland Friendship Centre. Interment will take place in the Austin Cemetery following the reception. Friends that so desire, memorial donations may be made in Glady's memory to the Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
