Obituary

Myers, Joan Delmar of Killarney formerly of Belmont passed to rest on October 29, 2014 at Tri-Lake Health Centre Killarney at the age of 88. Joan leaves to mourn her passing, son Bill (Terry) Myers of Brandon, daughter Jean (Paul) Cuvelier of Dunrea, daughter Dorothy Enns and family of Morris, six grandchildren Colin, Curtis (Susan), Erin Myers, Colleen, Kevin (Shaylyn) and Amanda Cuvelier. Joan is survived by a brother Kenneth Williamson, aunt Jess Bray and a sister in law Mildred (Len) Myers-Ricci. Joan was predeceased by her parents Del Smith, May Williamson Step Father Lorne Williamson, brother Ted Smith wife Helen, brother Jim Smith wife Florence, and sister Myrtle Rivest and husband Alex, sisters and brothers in laws Olive Wanless, Jim Wanless, Bert Goodine and Dick Myers. Son in law Bill Enns. Joan Delmar Smith was born the forth child to Del and May Smith (Bramwell) on the Bramwell farm on Sept 20th 1926. Del Smith passed away in the spring of 1926 before Joan was born. In 1928 May married Lorne Williamson and the family moved to the Williamson farm in the Huntly district. Joan received her education at Huntly and Neelin Schools. On October 22nd 1946 she married Cecil Myers from Belmont Manitoba. Cecil and Joan were married for 66 years. Cecil's parents moved into Belmont and Cecil and Joan lived on the home farm for the next 10 years. Their two children were born during this time. William Delmar Myers was born January 28, 1949. Myrtle Jean Myers was born July 31st 1951. In 1956 Cecil and Joan bought the Tom Lambkin farm which became there permanent home for their farming career. In 1963, they added the John Yeo farm. In 1983, Cecil and Joan rented their farm. In 1986, they moved from the farm into Belmont. In July 2004, they moved to the Royal Manor in Killarney. Then in September of 2012, they moved to Lakeview Gardens. When Cecil passed away in 2013 Joan went into Bayside Personal Care Home. Their grandchildren were always an important part of their lives. They attended many of their school functions, sporting events and piano recitals. All the grandchildren took turns having their summer holidays at grandpa and grandma's. They would have special day outings planned to suit the likes of each grandchild. One of their favorite outings was taking the all six grandchildren to the Winter Fair in Brandon every year. Joan's life revolved around her family. A Celebration of Joan's life was held at Calvary Baptist Church Killarney on Monday November 3, 2014 with Pastor Darryl Hartwig officiating. Eulogy was given by Grandsons Colin Myers and Curtis Myers. Urn Bearers were Granddaughters Erin Myers, Colleen Cuvelier and Amanda Cuvelier. Family Internment followed the service at Hillside Cemetery Belmont MB. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Joan's memory to the Bayside Personal Care Home, or to the Tri-Lake Palliative Care, Box 5000 Killarney MB R0K 1G0, or to a charity of choice. The Family of Joan Myers would like to thank everyone for the food, flowers, emails and cards. Special thanks to Pastor Darryl Hartwig for his care and compassion at this difficult time. To Malvina Heide for the music, the Church lunch committee for the lovely lunch following the service and the ushers. To the staff at Tri-Lake Health Centre and Bayside Personal Care Home for your kindness and support, Family and Friends that were able to be with us at Mum's service, those who gave to Charitable Donations in Mum's memory.
