Peacefully, at the Tiger Hills Health Centre on Sunday, February 9, 2014, Lorne Jefferies passed away at the age of 89 years. Left to cherish Lorne's memory are his wife Gerarda: his children Gail (Neil) Cornock, Patti Jefferies (Tom Turner), Joey Jefferies (Deann), grandchildren Trysten (Luanne Murphy) and Mitchell Jefferies; brother-in-law Lawrence Allemeersch and sister-in-law Madelaine Wall (Dave); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lorne also leaves to mourn his passing Gerarda's children: Lorne Adam, Rita Hyrich (Gordon), Gordie Adam (Wade Chessman), and Bernie Adam (Donna); their children Kerry Adam, Corey Adam (Christine), Karl Adam (Marilyn Prejet-Adam), Sean Hyrich (Ana Jamborcic), Kelly Hyrich (Doug Anderson), Cortnee Adam (Justin Brace), Ciera Adam, and four great-grandchildren. Lorne was predeceased by his first wife Marie Louise (nee Dousselaere), grandson Ryan Cornock, parents Joseph and Stella Jefferies, and mother and father in-law Madeleine and Ben Allemeersch. On October 28, 1924, Lorne was born on the family farm. He received his education at Selton and Holland Schools. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball, hockey and curling in bonspiels. Later in life, he enjoyed those same sports as a spectator. He was at his happiest farming, gardening, hunting and showing horses. During his horse showing years, he travelled the province extensively, earning numerous awards and gathering many friends along the way. A special thank you to the doctors and entire staff of both Treherne and Notre Dame Hospitals for making Lorne's final days as comfortable as possible. As well, thank you to those who provided homecare on a daily basis over the years. A celebration of Lorne's life will be held in the Holland United Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 with Heather Grobb officiating. Interment to follow in the Brookdale Cemetery, Holland, MB. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Lorne's memory to the Tiger Hills Health Centre, Box 130, Treherne, MB, R0V 2V0.
