Marcel Kamiel DeMeuleneire was born on August 27th 1930 near St. Alphonse, Manitoba. He peacefully passed away on October 20th 2026 at the Glenboro Health Centre with his family by his side at 96 years old.
Marcel leaves to mourn his son Brian (Jackie) DeMeuleneire and daughter Shelley (Brad) Williams, grandchildren Courtney (Glen) Charette, Lindsey (Shane) Riglin, Justin (Nadia) DeMeuleneire, Jayme Williams, Brittney (Tyler) Sorensen, Carter Morin and Skyler Morin, great grandchildren Pierce, Autumn & Leo Charette, Chase & Brooks Riglin, Amelia & Hadley DeMeuleneire and Everley Sorensen, as well as his sister Evelyn Green, brother in-law Keith Green and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his wife Adrienne (nee Van Den Bossche), parents Cyril and Rachel DeMeuleneire, parents-in-law Maurice and Helen Van Den Bossche, great granddaughter Scarlett Charette, sister Antoinette Martens and brother-in-law Gerry Martens, sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law Rachel (Camiel) DeSmet, Jules Van Den Bossche, Alexander Van Den Bossche, Raymond (Agnes) Van Den Bossche, Lorette (Louie) Devos, nephews Dennis Van Den Bossche and Jim DeSmet.
Marcel was the second of three children born to Cyril and Rachel. He received his schooling in Bruxelles, but very early in life realized that school was not for him and farming was more important.
Marcel married the "neighbour girl" as he called Adrienne on June 16th 1956. They welcomed Brian the following summer and Shelley in the spring of 1962. They farmed together near Bruxelles until an opportunity to buy their farm east of Baldur came about.
They purchased it in the fall of 1963 and moved the family the following summer. Cows were Marcel's life and he loved spending his days outdoors tending to them. He loved going for an ATV ride to check fences and his herd.
Marcel liked having company over to visit and play bien. He also enjoyed Belgian bowling, fishing with his family and going out for a drive.
He loved his family and lit up when we stopped by for a visit, thanking us each time for coming. He adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, always offering a sweet treat for the little ones, and a cold drink for the adults.
A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd, 2026 at the Baldur Cemetery with Sharon Hamilton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glenboro Area Foundation (Healthcare Designation) Box 147, Glenboro, MB, R0K 0X0.
