Marie Vallotton, 73, passed away at the Fairview Home in Brandon, MB on Monday April 20, 2020. She is survived by her husband (Pierre), two sons Marcel (Teresa) and Real (Teryl) and their families, four step-children Michèle, Caroline, Armand (Connie) and Celine Sholdice (Brent), and their families, one brother and sister-in-law (Larry and Barb), along with many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Lena Person. Marie was raised in Tompkins, Saskatchewan. She attended high school in Gull Lake and completed her post-secondary studies in Regina. Marie's first elementary teaching job was in Swift Current . When Marie moved to Brandon she worked as an elementary school teacher before settling into farm life outside the hamlet of Stockton. She was an avid gardener and loved to enjoy the beauty of nature. She also enjoyed animals - particularly taking care of cats and birds alike. Marie was an active member of the Manitoba Swiss Club and International Rural Exchange for many years. Through these organizations, as well as her love of travel, she met and kept in touch with a large number of pen pals from around the world. She loved getting dressed up for outings and social occasions, where she would often be found dancing in her younger years, or enjoying a good visit as the years went on. Special thanks to the staff at Fairview Personal Care Home and the Assiniboine Center in Brandon for their care, compassion and respect throughout her journey. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, a private family service will be held on Friday April 24, 2020.
