Peacefully on Friday April 14, 2023 our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away at the Treherne Personal Care Home at the age of 91, after a life well lived.

Marie was born to the late Jan and Augusta Schamp. She married Omer Rigaux October 30th, 1951 and together they farmed the Ernest Rigaux homestead till 1973.  Marie devoted her life to her children and husband.  They enjoyed their life on the family farm and then they retired in the village of Cypress River in December 1974.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Glenda (Emery), Roman (Carol);grandchildren Nicole, Todd (Bre), Kristen (Trevor); great grandchildren Remi and Gray Rigaux.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Omer of 33 years March 17th 1984.  Marie was also predeceased by her 8 siblings Gracian, Roman, Mary Jane, Annie, Tony, Roger, and two in infancy Simone and William as well as other close in-laws. Marie was the last surviving family member of both the Schamp and Rigaux families.

Marie spent many fantastic years traveling west to visit family. Enjoying time especially in Calgary with her son Roman, wife Carol, grandchildren Nicole, Todd, and Kristen. During the summers, Marie operated the Rigaux, Gibson daycare center for many years. Her role managing the daycare over the summer months was definitely a highlight in Marie's lifetime. She also made numerous trips to Vancouver Island to visit with her daughter Glenda and husband Emery where they together explored the beautiful sites and Island Resorts.

The family would like to Thank Dr. Vorster and the above and beyond wonderful staff of the Treherne Personal Care Home for their excellent care of Marie which she has called home since January 2017.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday April 19, 2023 at 11:00 am in Jamieson's Funeral Chapel in Holland, MB with Father Joseph Tran officiating.
