Neil Watson McEachran, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 3, 2015 at the Tiger Hills Health Centre. Neil was born on August 30, 1923 to John and Edith McEachran. He will be remembered by sister Florence Melnyk & sister-in-law Dorothy McEachran both of Winnipeg and by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Ruth Mitchell and Jean Bowman, brother Harvey McEachran, nephew Tom McEachran and brother in laws Alan Mitchell and Jack Bowman. Neil grew up on the family farm in the Treherne - Rathwell area. In 1943 he went into the Royal Canadian Armed Service and joined the Service Governor General Guard throughout Europe being discharged in 1946. In the following years he enjoyed a quiet life on the farm he so loved. In the most recent years he moved into the Legion Lodge but continued to commute frequently out to the farm until the last few months. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Treherne United Church with Rev. Chuck Ross officiating. Interment took place in the Woodlands Cemetery at 10:30 am prior to the service. Following the service, a reception was held in the lower level of the United Church. Memorial donations can be made in Neil's memory to the Tiger Hills Health Centre Building Fund, Box 130 Treherne MB R0G 2V0.
