Obituary

Norman Walter Purkess passed away on Sunday May 31, 2020 at the Tiger Hills Health Centre, Treherne MB at the age of 81 years. Norman was born in 1938 on the home farm on 36-09-12 in the RM of Victoria in the Southfield District. Norman was the last son of the late Fred and Mary Purkess. The last of the original Purkess family, Norman spent his whole life over the hill where he was born, mixed farming, trapping, and hunting. Norman loved animals. Norman was predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Purkess, his loving wife Donalda (2015), his daughter Kathleen (1983); Also five brothers and five sister-in-laws in brackets their everyday names of my brothers, Fredrick Reginald (Reg), John Thomas (Margaret & Dorothy), James William (Jim) (Mavis), Henry George (Harry) (Muriel) & Gordon Douglas (Mae); three sisters Evelyn Jeannie Livingston Lauder Kilfoyle, Edith Emily Woodward, Kathleen Lillian (Lily) and one half sister Mary and husband Raymond Jones. Norman was also predeceased by long time trapping friend Archie McIntyre and his wife Marjorie, plus brother-in-laws Bob Lauder, Roy Kilfoyle, Hans Eastgaard & Roy Patterson. Norman leaves to mourn is passing his Children Jean (George Rugg), Shirley (Dean Bieganski), Karen (Danny Darichuk); Grandchildren Richard Legault (Tamara), Erin Purkess (Dennis), Ashley (Riley) Lederer, Tosha Hotel (Drew Kilcup), Scott (Roberta), Tyler (Mikyala), Mason and Abby Darichuk; Great grandchildren Hunter Legault, Shaylynn Purkess, Cheyanne Purkess Nixey, Raiyne and Holden Darichuk, Liam Kilcup, Jamieson Lederer; Nephew Bob Lauder, Sister in laws Yvonne (Bill), Gail (Don MacKay) and many nieces and nephews. (Norman Purkess) A Family Graveside Service will take place at the Sidney Cemetery, Sidney MB on Friday June 5, 2020 with Sandra Rex officiating. Friends & neighbours are welcome to a come & go Celebration of Norman's life at his farm commencing at 2:00 pm. Flowers gratefully declined.
