Obituary

Terry Gordon Jefferies of Ninette, MB passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 18, 2026, at age 66.

Terry leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 35 years Christine (Melnychuk), son Tayler (Shalyssa), son Ryland (Samantha), mother Jeanette (John), mother-in-law Diane, sister Betty Jean (Brent), brothers Larry (Cindy), Glenn (Brenda), brother-in- law Tim ( Vicki) and numerous extended family and friends.

Terry was pre-deceased by his father Gordon (2006) and father-in-law Norman (2014).

Terry was born in Glenboro on May 20, 1960, to parents Gordon and Jeanette Jefferies, brother to Betty Jean, Larry and Glenn. Terry attended school in Glenboro, was a member of 4H, Boy Scouts, completed grade 11 and went on to graduate from ACC in 1980 with his automotive/ heavy-duty mechanic tickets. Terry worked at various jobs in his early years including H&L Motors, Canadian Tire, and Kimberly Clark before farming in the early 80’s with Gordon. Terry lived in the notorious house east of Glenboro and was known for his love of fast cars and loud music.

Terry met the love of his life Christine in 1986, and we married July 20, 1991, in Wawanesa, MB. In July 1993, Terry was so excited to welcome our son Tayler into the world, and again in December 1995, his excitement doubled when our son Ryland arrived. As our family grew, Terry had many jobs including working at the Glenboro hotel, Paul’s Hauling, Quintaine’s, Norbert’s Manufacturing, and Shilo Fire Department before settling into a heavy-duty mechanic position in Shilo from 1998 to his retirement in 2025.

In 1996, we relocated to Stockton where our little family grew up, spread their wings and we relocated to Pelican Lake in 2016. For many years, a lot of Terry’s free time was spent volunteering for the Glenboro Fire Department, Glenboro ambulance, coaching Ryland’s baseball/ hockey, taking violin lessons alongside Tayler, and being a member of the Stockton Royals baseball/ hockey teams while completing photography courses at ACC. Terry’s love language was helping others and this commitment continued until his very last day. Terry was very fortunate to have been able to be a blood donor for over 100 donations which was testament to the fact that anything he did- he did with his whole heart. There was nothing in this world he liked better than visiting, laughing, and hearing your story.

Terry’s greatest accomplishment in life was making a home for his family and raising his boys along side his “little wife”. Terry’s favorite vacation was Hawaii; he enjoyed Club beer and the music of Johnny Cash. Following retirement, Terry found joy in the simple things in life: watching his birds, being outdoors, and spending time at the family bush cabin playing cards. Terry loved to hunt and cook, and he was especially fond of organizing epic adventures for the “Fishing Boys” or recalling the fun times at “The Big Cabin”. Terry had his own language, sense of humor, gave the best hugs and made friends easily. Terry was always up for a visit and could frequently be heard asking “ You got time for a beer?”. He never went far without his wee cooler, his loafers, and a need to visit someone somewhere. Terry lived his very last day doing what he loved: being on the land and helping others.

A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held at the Glenboro Kinsmen Community Hall on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm with Sandra Rex officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Millford Cemetery, Stockton, MB.
