Peacefully on Sunday, June 1st, 2014 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Foyer, Yvonne Van Damme (nee De Koninck), age 90 years, passed away. Yvonne leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory, her children Marlene (John) Marginet, Doreen (Nelson) Van Den Bussche, and Robert (Andrea) Van Damme, nine grandchildren, Allan Marginet, Brian (Kerry) Marginet, Corinna (Dino) Delaquis, Tina (Devron) Dittmer, Neil (Jackie) Van Den Bussche, Lisa Van Den Bussche (Triston), Joanna Van Damme (Glen), Jason Van Damme and Tracy (Grant) Anderson, thirteen great grandchildren Rachael and Matthew Marginet, Sydney and Naomi Delaquis, Brooke, Hunter, Trapper and Gunner Van Den Bussche, Makayla and Peyton Van Damme, Hailey, Caitlin and Jessica Anderson. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Joe, infant daughter Diane, parents Victor and Maria (nee Claeys) De Koninck, two brothers, Raymond and Leon, and one sister Simone De Koninck. Yvonne was born at Bruxelles, MB, on SW 7-6-11, on October 21st 1923, she received her education at St. Urbain School. On October 30, 1945 she married Joe Van Damme of St. Alphonse. They were married in St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Bruxelles, MB. Joe & Yvonne first farmed in the Swan Lake area in 1951, they farmed until 1974, when they sold the farm to their son Robert and moved to Holland, MB. Yvonne was a part time cook at the Central Hotel in Treherne for nine years. During her earlier retirement years, Mom & Dad enjoyed dancing and travelling. Mom enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, and no birthdays were ever missed without getting a cake from Grandma. She also did sewing, mending, knitting, carpentry, and Christmas was very special at Grandma's house. They sold their house in May 2008, and moved to the Holland Manor, where they enjoyed many visits and bien games with family & friends. On October 13, 2010, Yvonne moved to the Notre Dame Foyer, she was joined by Joe in November. There she continued to play cards with family. Prayers will be held at Jamieson's Holland Chapel, Holland, MB at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, Holland, Manitoba at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, Father John McKenzie celebrant. Eulogy will take place at 9:45 a.m. prior to Mass. Pallbearers will be Allan and Brian Marginet, Jason Van Damme, Neil Van Den Bussche, Ronald De Koninck and Grant North. The family considers all relatives & friends in attendance as honorary pallbearers. Interment to follow in the St. John Berchmans Parish Cemetery. Memoriams may be made in Yvonne's memory to the Notre Dame Foundation Inc. (Recreation), Box 190, Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB R0G 1M0.
