David LeRoy Wolfe of Belmont, MB passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday January 15, 2024, at the age of 77.
Dave was born in Morden on March 26th, 1946, to Dave and Marie Wolfe, and was raised in Snowflake, MB, attending high school in Pilot Mound. He enjoyed sports, especially skating and baseball. Dave’s first jobs included working in the canning factories in Winkler and for Furnaceman in Winnipeg.
In the mid-1960s he moved to Virden, MB where he worked various jobs before training to be an electrician. After getting his start working for Bernie Shewchuk, he started his own business, Wolfe’s Electric.
Shortly after moving to Virden, he met Martha, the love of his life, at the Kola EMC church. They married in 1968 and built a house just outside of Virden a few years later. Their long awaited first child, daughter Terri, was born in 1976, with their son Jason following in 1977, and their daughter Nikki in 1978. David was very active in the Virden Baptist Church as well as in the community, serving on different Boards such as the Auditorium Theatre and ACL.
In 2004 Dave and Martha moved to Ninette, MB to work with Youth for Christ, moving to their home in Belmont, MB two years later. As was his nature, Dave quickly became involved in the Belmont community, serving on the LUD and volunteering in many ways at the senior's drop-in centre. One of the highlights of his day was preparing and having morning coffee there with other community members. During this time, Dave also used his electrical skills on several mission trips with MDS, as well as one to Africa.
Dave loved camping and fishing, taking multiple trips every summer with the motorhome up to Wellman Lake. He always enjoyed taking family members out on the lake in the boat for both fishing and waterskiing adventures.
Dave had plenty of mechanical abilities. He built and fixed many things at home and always felt blessed to help others whenever he could. In the spring, you would find Dave tapping the maple trees to make syrup, and in the summer, he enjoyed picking chokecherries and saskatoons.
David leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Martha (nee Koop); three children, Terri Wolfe (Darryl Nanka) of Winnipeg MB, Jason (Jennifer) Wolfe of Kleefeld MB, Nikki (Jeff) Banman of Crystal City MB; ten grandchildren, Charisma (Isaac), Caleb, Daniele, Justin, Tessera, Hailey, Annalynne, Jessie, Calli, and Erica; as well as one great granddaughter, Thea. He is also survived by his siblings, Loree (Dave) Harder, Joan (Wayne) Klassen, and Eileen Koop; as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law Ed (Susie) Koop, Rina Koop, Elli Koop, Reg (Marjo) Koop, and Kathy Penner.
David was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Marie, mother and father in-law, John and Helen Koop, sister, Danella Harder, an infant sister, Betty Anne and by brothers-in-law Len Koop & Bert Koop.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Belmont Community Hall with a prior public viewing from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
The interment will take place following the service at the Hillside Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the Belmont Community Hall.
