Obituary

Passed away at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home Thursday January 24, 2019 at the age of 103 years, Bertha Esther Elizabeth Brown (nee Elliott), of Wawanesa MB.

Esther was born April 28, 1915 to Almon & Minnie Elliott (nee Carrothers) & attended school in Methven, Wawanesa & Holland MB. Upon completion of business courses in Brandon in 1934, she worked for Wawanesa Mutual for a few years then was employed with Union Carbide Canada in Toronto for 33 years, retiring in 1975. She married Tom Henry of Ontario & together enjoyed traveling Ontario with Tom's golf supply business. After Tom's passing, she moved back to Wawanesa & married Art Brown. Esther enjoyed volunteer work & was extensively involved with genealogy covering the Elliott & Carrothers families.

Esther leaves to mourn her passing her stepchildren Rick & wife Dorothy Brown of Brandon & their children Ian (Tracey) & Erin (Keith) Gessner and families, Bev Brown of Dundas Ont., nephew Neil Kitson of Vancouver & children Frances, Joe, Heather & Alex and their mother Hilary as well numerous extended relatives & friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband Tom Henry (1985) & second husband Art Brown (2003), brother Wilfred (Florence) Elliott, sisters Emma (Fred) Thornborough, Marjorie (Cliff) Kitson and nephew Bill Thornborough.

A Celebration of Esther's life will be held on Friday February 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Wawanesa United Church with Rev. Harvey Hurren & Shirley McBurney officiating. A family interment will take place in the Methven Cemetery.
Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Wawanesa United Church Memorial Fund or the Wawanesa Personal Care Home or to the Methven Cemetery, c/o Mike Fisher, Wawanesa MB R0K 2G0.

Ester was such an extraordinary lady that will never be replaced. Her smile and positivity was infectious! Her mind and memory was a phenomenal and such a source of information for our community. Our thoughts are with the entire family at this time.
